Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you It’s late September and I really should be back at school I know I keep you amused but I feel I’m being used Oh Maggie I couldn’t have tried any more You lured me away from home just to save you from being alone You stole my heart and that’s what really hurt. The morning sun when it’s in your face really shows your age But that don’t worry me none in my eyes you’re everything I laughed at all of your jokes my love you didn’t need to coax Oh, Maggie I couldn’t have tried any more You lured me away from home, just to save you from being alone You stole my soul and that’s a pain I can do without.

All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand But you turned into a lover and mother what a lover, you wore me out All you did was wreck my bed and in the morning kick me in the head Oh Maggie I couldn’t have tried anymore You lured me away from home ’cause you didn’t want to be alone You stole my heart I couldn’t leave you if I tried.

My sincerest Thanks, Effie! It’s especially important coming from you, an experienced DJ and radio producer. Have a good night! Wednesday, 7 June Rod Stewart part 1. During the last few weeks, we have examined a number of little known artists from the 60s and the 70s. Now, we’re going back to the very well known ones: We’ll start with the Scot, who, in the 70s, was one of the three major British solo artists, alongside David Bowie and Elton John.

We are talking, of course, about Rod “the Mod” Stewart. The reason that I’m including Rod in this list is not the bisexual rumors that have persistently been following him for most of his adult life. After all, nothing has been confirmed. In fact, he recently debunked the nastiest or most exciting, depending on your point of view one of all; that he had to be taken to the hospital for a stomach pump, after ingesting the semen of an entire football team.

This rumor, which has been around since the early 70s, seems to have been spread by a vindictive ex-employee.

No one ever demands to know how many Rolling Stones were Jones or Mickey Waller on a Rod Stewart album if it’s got Woody and Mac? he recut “Street Fighting Man” over what was originally going to be a cover of.

Based on his early solo albums I would tend to agree with him. Although he may argue that the leggy blondes and the cash in the bank have more than justified his decision. This is quite possibly my favourite Rod Stewart album. It is undoubtedly the album highlight. But then Rod has never been lacking in confidence or faith in his own ability so he probably never worried too much. All are top quality Stewart performances. This was really the beginning of the end for Rod Stewart as a credable rock performer really although the following years Atlantic Crossing did herald a brief return to form before the rot really set in.

My main gripe with this is that so much of it is unnecessary and a bit twee. I mean the cover looks like something on a cheap souvenir from a trip to Scotland. Maybe he got caught up in all the fuss surrounding Scotland getting to the World Cup but I seriously wonder what someone like the far more talented and genuinely Scottish Frankie Miller thought about a gravel voiced cockney being thought of the world over as a Scot and draping himself in tartan.

Cover aside there are also two totally pointless instrumentals.

Street Fighting Man

Called the band’s “most political song”, [4] Rolling Stone ranked the song number on its list of the Greatest Songs of All Time. In an interview with Marc Myers , Keith Richards said that he wrote most of the music for the song in late or early , and got the “dry, crisp” sound that he wanted by strumming an acoustic guitar with an open tuning in front of a portable Philips cassette recorder microphone. The melody was influenced by the sound of police sirens. Jagger allegedly wrote it about Tariq Ali after he attended a anti-war rally at London’s US embassy, during which mounted police attempted to control a crowd of 25,

The opening cover of the Stones’ “Street Fighting Man” encapsulates his approach. Through this approach, Stewart establishes that rock can sound as rich and timeless as folk, and that folk can be as vigorous as rock. Read more Read less. ROD STEWART: RESILIENCE LESS CREATIVITY

They’re supposed to be the tough guys and girls of music, but no one gets their claws out quite like a rock star. When you’re at the top of your game there’s bound to be a bit of competition with your rivals. But no one does bitchy better than a rock star, with Rod Stewart the latest to get sassy about fellow 70s icon Elton John. Clearly not impressed that Elts is squeezing in one last tour before he retires, Rod bitched, “It’s dishonest.
